Biographical sketch
Stevie Freeman-Montes works as part of the Executive Staff Team as the Sustainability Manager for the City of Sarasota. In her role she leads programs to conserve natural resources within city operations and collaborates closely with city planners on resiliency and sustainable development issues. Her projects include leading the city’s first-ever climate change adaptation plan, facilitating community input for Sarasota’s 100% renewable energy target, and installing a Living Seawall demonstration project. Before joining the City of Sarasota, Stevie worked in local government sustainability in Oregon and served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer on the island of Yap, Micronesia. Stevie holds a Masters Degree in Sustainable Development and Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology.
